Description

for one of our relations, a big telecom company in noord-brabant we are looking for an back office engineer, multi media, messaging and subscribers

the 'network operations centre' (noc) at the office in noord-brabant is part of the global organization for regional delivery of managed services. the noc is one of the 4 primary operations centres and includes a data centre for delivery of service layer hosting capacity as well. our prime responsibility is the day-to-day (24/7) operation of customer networks regardless of technology, size, location or brand.

the back office engineer charging is responsible for handling technical trouble tickets triggered by different customers (telecom operator customer's care). the responsibility includes resolving and coordinating trouble tickets, handling daily preventive routines on charging and billing systems.

in principal the back office engineer plays a major ''spider in the web'' role regarding his services and takes responsibility for the nodes under their control.

tasks:

  • manages end-user service and nodes regarding multi-media, messaging and subscriber solutions. these include: sms, mms, ema, ims and a growing list of systems.
    monitoring of the services by executing daily routines within office hours on the end-to-end services, networks and network components by using generic and customer specific systems, tools and processes.
  • fault handling and correction by investigating faults. faults are logged through trouble tickets and system events and where possible restore functionality of the service or escalate to specialists.
  • preventative maintenance by performing predefined recurring operation & maintenance routines (daily routines) according periodic maintenance schedule defined by vendors and/or own back-office to signalize upfront deviations and prevent unplanned service downtime.
  • acts as a central point of contact in event handling within the boundaries of the network assurance services to achieve efficient and effective execution of network assurance activities.
  • has direct contact with 3rd parties (mostly network vendors) to ensure problems/adaptations are solved within set time frames.
  • verifies and implements procedural improvements and changes (down to the level of work instructions) and provides input on structural improvements in processes/work instructions. this is done within the responsibilities of the organizational unit (and adjacent interfacing areas) with the goal to ensure changes are embedded in the daily way of working.

Demands

  • education on mbo/hbo level (secondary school/bachelor degree).
  • 1 to 2 years of experience (or a traineeship) within an operations & maintenance role is a pré.
  • team player and willing to share knowledge
  • stress resistant
  • multi tasking capabilities
  • structured and organized way of working.
  • communicator both in dutch as in english
  • knowledge of it and/or (mobile) telecom networks is a pré
  • (proven) knowledge of analytical troubleshooting
  • good knowledge in ms word and excel
  • flexible attitude (no 9 to 5 mentality)
  • quick and eager learner
  • willing to work a non-call duty once per 6 weeks.
