For our client, a big Retail organization from the FMCG industry, we are looking for ambitious, technology driven and data oriented Product Owner!

The Data Product Owner understands business needs and transform use cases into Data Science Products. You act as an entrepreneur who is in charge of the vision and product creation and you are responsible for front-end data engineering. You work together with the data engineering team and you are held accountable for the “What” in terms of requirements/solutions. You have in-depth technical knowledge and experience, as well as knowledge for software quality, which makes the communication between you and the engineering team easy and convenient. You report directly to the Head of Technology.

Results to be achieved

  • You will be managing the whole data product creation, including strategic planning, prioritization, communication, stakeholder involvement, metrics and reporting, conveying business value. You are defining key metrics / indicators as acceptance criteria to measure progress and success of the products. You own, prioretize, organize, plan and maintain the backlog. You tune, shape and align on the road map. You are also determining which emerging issues (internal and external) are relevant to the organization's current and future data needs and ensuring strategies, policies, programs, and processes incorporate these trends and address key issues and risks
  • You are building and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders from the organization, as well as some external parties. You are also in close collaboration with the engineers, Tech Lead and the Information Analyst to design/build long lasting and impactful products
  • You ensure that the various departments are well attuned to each other, such as operations, process management, commerce and other staff disciplines. You take the lead in innovative products and projects, both for improving the existing business and for new products. You keep abreast of company and industry trends in data and analytics, as well as data and analytics tools and technology

The requirements for this position

  • You have university degree in quantitative discipline such as engineering or computer/natural science. You have understanding of technology and strong interest to work in it
  • You have more than 5 years of experience in working with data products, and you possess hands on experience with modelling, data science, visualization tools and techniques (e.g. C, Python, R, SQL, Azure, PowerBI, etc.). You have sharp business acumen, have a knack of business case building and financial planning. Experience in retail is a plus
  • You are a high level influencer with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to efficiently and effectively translate business demands to technical requirements. Experience working with executives and/or senior management is a strong plus. You are a strategic-thinking, result-oriented professional with innovative approach

Location & conditions

  • The work location is in Amsterdam
  • The contract form depends from the client and the candidate. Both Interim and employee contract form are possible for this assignment
  • The language you need to speak is English
  • The required level of education is University Degree
